We aim to offer high levels of hospitality to all our guests, regardless of any permanent or temporary disability, medical condition, or other specific requirement. This Access Statement is designed to give you the information you need to assess how effectively we can meet your particular needs.

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

Reservations can be made by telephone, website or email. The hotel is located approximately 20 miles from Penrith railway station. We can recommend a local a taxi for you on request. Wheelchair-suitable vehicles are available if necessary. Accessible busses run from Keswick town centre and stop at the Ladore hotel next door to Mary Mount Directions to the hotel can be found on the website.

ARRIVAL

There is no designated disabled parking bay in the main car park however if you contact us prior to arrival we can ensure a space next to the front entrance is reserved for you.The reception desk is approx. 1 m high.Assistance with luggage is always available, and this can be collected from/delivered to your car if required.The entrance hall floor is a slate material. There is a small step up into reception but this can be bypassed by checking in at the bar which is on one level.

PUBLIC AREAS

Our Restaurant is accessible without steps. Access to the bar via reception is up one small step or via the restaurant without a step.Ladies’, Gentlemen’s and accessible toilets are located on the ground floor via a corridor from the entrance area with 1 step or via the restaurant without a step.The hotel does not have a hearing loop installed.

ACCOMMODATION

The hotel has no bedrooms specifically designed for use by guests with impaired mobility; however, our team are more than happy to discuss your particular requirements. Bedrooms vary in terms of shape and size however many will be suitable for guests with minor disabilities so do please feel free to call us and let us assist you.

GENERAL TO THE ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

All information such as menus and bedroom information can be printed in larger fonts if so required. Service dogs are accepted at the hotel.There is an “Red Cross” shop in Carlisle from where it is possible to hire a range of specialist equipment; we can provide their details on request.We have tried to be accurate and as comprehensive as possible in the preparation of this Access Statement. All team members are more than happy to assist in any way possible to ensure that you have a very enjoyable stay at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel.
